Clinical relaxation: current controversy.

چکیده
Several topics of current interest in the field are currently undergoing evolution. Since we are living and practicing in the midst of this change, there is controversy surrounding the adaptation of new concepts and procedures into clinical practice. This lecture will discuss the following areas of current discussion. 1 The "priming" technique, onset of neuromuscular blockade, rapidity of intubation, and intubating conditions using nondepolarizing relaxants. 2 Reversal of neuromuscular blockade: reversal of very deep nondepolarizing block: special considerations. reversal of the new intermediate-duration nondepolarizers: is it always necessary? reversal of phase II block after succinylcholine infusion. 3 Infusions of nondepolarizing relaxants. 4 New nondepolafizing relaxants in clinical trial at present: BW A938U ~Long-acting nondepolarizers Pipecuronium Jfree of side effects. BW B 1090U, a short-acting nondepolarizer. 5 Metabolites of atracurium and vecuronium and their potential pharmacological effects.

The extent to which self-hypnosis can be used in surgical procedures is a topic of controversy. This author considers the limits imposed, by the literature, on the effectiveness of self-hypnosis in major abdominal surgery to be academic and unfounded. This is an account of a cholecystectomy performed using self-hypnosis as the sole anesthetic agent. Muscle relaxation, shallow breathing, pulse r...
متن کاملImpact of Jacobson Relaxation on Dialysis Adequacy in ElderlyHemodialysis Patients
Background: Dialysis adequacy is one of the determining factors for survival in elderly patients. Improving the dialysis adequacy highly affects the remission and prognosis of old dialysis patients. Current study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Jacobson relaxation technique on dialysis adequacy in elderly people, who are under dialysis treatment. Methods: ods: This is a clinical trial...
متن کاملImportance of electronic relaxation for inter-coulombic decay in aqueous systems.
Inspired by recent photoelectron spectroscopy experiments on hydroxide solutions, we have examined the conditions necessary for enhanced (and, in the case of solutions, detectable) inter-Coulombic decay (ICD)--Auger emission from an atomic site other than that originally excited. We present general guidelines, based on energetic and spatial overlap of molecular orbitals, for this enhancement of...
متن کاملEffect of Priming Dose of Atracurium on the Onset of Muscle Relaxation: A Controlled Clinical Trial
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was comparison of priming and intubating dose of Atracurium on the onset of muscle relaxation time to testing an alternative method for urgent operation. one hundred, 20-30 years old men that were condidate for urgency surgery entered in this study and divided in two groups randomly. First group was relaxed with Priming dose of Atracurium. In this way, %5 mg (pr...
متن کاملCurrent Nosology of Treatment Resistant Depression: A Controversy Resistant to Revision
Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) represents a source of ongoing clinical and nosological controversy and confusion. While no univocal consensus on its definition and specific correlation with major mood disorders has been reached to date, a progressively greater number of evidences tend to suggest a revision of current clinical nosology. Since a better assessment of TRD should be considered...
